Galerija je osnovana 1970. godine kada je Antun Augustinčić, predstavnika hrvatske moderne umjetnosti, darovao rodnom Klanjcu vlastiti skulptorski opus nastao tijekom 50 godina stvaranja koji mu je priskrbio ugled u domovini i inozemstvu.
